The Image of Inspiration
in·spi·ra·tion: stimulation for the human mind to creative thought or to the making of art
Who inspires you?
Is there one person, or two or three, who simply by their presence or the sound of their voice can move you to action, spur your creative mind or mysteriously make you believe you are invincible?
What inspires you?
What thing - a beautiful day, a piece of art, a flower, the aroma of freshly baked bread - inspires you, moves you out of your current status quo into a new level of energy, productivity or performance?
How can you turn your basic ho-hum day into a series of inspirational, delight-filled, memorable moments?
Get your piece of paper, pad or notebook and make your list. List 10 people whose lives, achievements, depth of spirit or simple existence create a positive shift in you.
List 10 things that make you smile, excite you, help you focus or give your brain a creative boost.
Can you give these people and things more of a presence in your life? Here are some ideas:
- Buy or make a beautiful frame for a photograph of the person who inspires you most. Put it in a place of prominence that you can see easily and often.
- Make a promise to walk outside while the sun is still high in the sky.
- Buy yourself a small bouquet of flowers to enjoy each week.
- Go to a museum to view your favorite works of art. Or, hang a print by your favorite artist on the wall where you can see and enjoy it daily.
- Make a point to arrive at the bakery just as the bread is being pulled form the oven. Or, buy a ready-to bake loaf and do it yourself. Savor the aroma in your own space whenever you choose.
Don't wait for inspiration to come to you. Provide just a little assistance and see that inspiration will visit you more and more on its own. |
