12 Months of Image
Month 2: February
Colors and Trends
Some of you may remember
back in August when I begged you to not
be sad. I reminded you that summer would
come again. Well, it may be hard to believe,
based on what you see outside your window.
Nevertheless, Spring is near and Summer
is never far behind.
So, go ahead, you know
you've always dreamed of having a Spring
Fling. Well, as long as you keep
it in your closet, we're not going to
tell. For the ladies, the three sisters,
Flirty, Flowing and Feminine, are on
their way to a wardrobe collection near
you. For the gentlemen, coming out of
the closet wearing color is the
way to go.
-
Color Rules. Envision
the fresh green grass, the purple crocus,
the yellow daffodil...oh, the red tomato,
the pink azalea and the bright blue
sky. Great. You've got it. Now anchor
those with neutrals like shimmery grey,
khaki, navy, black and white. Yes, it's
Spring. And, if you can see it in nature,
you will see it in this season's styles.
Color is the new color. And, it's everywhere.
Enjoy it!
-
Dresses and Skirts. They
make it easy to be flirty and flowy.
And, they make it easy to get dressed.
From full and flowy to pencil thin and
tailored, they've got your style. Pair
them with short jackets and flats or
heels. They'll take you everywhere you
want to go.
-
Shimmer and Shine. The
glow started last season with shimmery
jeans and continues to spread like wildfire.
You can almost see yourself in your clothes...you
may want to bring your sunglasses into
the closet with you.
-
Ruffles have...well,
you know. You can't do feminine
without ruffles. Soft or taut, short
and tight or long and flowing, ruffled
collars, shirt bibs, cuffs, jackets,
skirts and dresses...they are the finishing
touch of the season. Add one or two
to your wardrobe for the freshness
factor and the fun.
-
Color Me Fabulous. If
the brights and neons are not your thing,
look for the more subtle blues, light
purples and burgundies to mix with your
neutrals in grey, caramel, olive, khaki,
navy and black.
-
Five-Star Safari. Camouflage,
anyone? Sportswear takes it cues from
cargo and safari gear. Unless you're
actually heading out on safari, one or
two pieces is all you'll really need.
-
Blue Note. Once
again, blue shirts with stripes or plaids of
white or grey or white and grey
will mix up with anything in their path.
For business chic, you can't go wrong
with this combo. Just be sure to freshen
up your collection to reach the high
notes.
The seasons come and go.
The fashions come and go. But, your true
style will remain long after the newest-of-the-new
has moved on. Keep your eye on the classics
with a twist. Add your special something and
you will always set yourself apart in the
very best way.
